Welcome to our website. We have set up this page to raise awareness of the situation around Kilvey Hill and Skyline Swansea.
This page supports the fundraiser Protect Kilvey Hill- Cadwch Bryn Cilfai raising funds for legal assistance to protect our beloved hill.
There are many different community groups and individuals that have opposed this development, which will look to wreck and trash a beloved green space, an urban-fringe woodland close to the city of Swansea
Many people, have referred to the Hill as 'barren wasteland'; Kilvey Hill is anything but that.
Home to wildlife, such as birds, small mammals and reptiles, green space and trees, Kilvey Hill is a slice of nature that can be easily accessed by local residents, where access to such a space would otherwise be a great distance to travel, and would also come with cost for transport.
The Skyline Project will receive £8m of Swansea Council public funding, and £4m from Welsh Government.
… £12m overall to private business for what could be considered an unrealistic vanity project. It makes us wonder where this money might be better spent in our city for the good of us all..
Kilvey Hill is a designated Quiet Area, the Skyline development will completely disrupt this.
Green spaces and access to nature is meant to be promoted under the Wellbeing for Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015. The importance of access to these spaces for peoples' wellbeing was amplified during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is a very special space that is treasured by so many people, and despite valid arguments and pleads, the council have done little more than brush away our demcratic voice as irrelevant and unimportant.
We need support from other likeminded individuals.
People who value nature and wildlife, understand the importance and need for designated Quiet Spaces, particularly those so close to built up urban areas, and those who value democracy and wish to see public money spent as wisely as possible.
If you could offer skills, knowledge or time, please let us know via this form We would love to hear from you.
This website is currently under re-development, be sure to check back over the coming days to keep up with our updates
